Review:
Playable by 3,4,5 or 6 octaves with performance notes for each, this well-known hymn tune begins with a play on the opening melodic motif. The melody enters supported by chordal harmony with touches of marted, trumpet-like rhythmic figures. Later on the melody appears in the inner voices and care has to be taken to bring this line out. The piece ends with a shake and ring in fortissimo dynamic.
