Review:
This festive piece, though fast, is relatively easy to perform. The meter changes are the challenge. Though frequent, all meter changes are from one simple meter to another (6/4, 4/4, 3/4 and 2/4). The work is characterized by sudden "stops," in fact Jarana is a hybrid dance of the Yucatan. A suggested alternate title for church use is "Ring Praise Unto Thee."
