Two traditional French carols, "Il est né„ le Divin Enfant" (18th century) and "Ding Dong! Merrily on High" (16th century) are combined in this setting for SATB choir and keyboard and optional bells. There are two bell parts available - one is included on the back page of the anthem and uses bells from Bb 4 to F6 (all written on the treble staff) and is a level 2 difficulty; the other is separate, written with fuller chords using bells from F4 to F6 (all written on the treble staff) and is a level 3 difficulty. The bells ring a regular intervals throughout the work.
