Review:
"He Came Down" is a traditional call-and-response song from Cameroon. Cathy Moklebust has arranged two compatible versions, one for 2-3 octaves with optional 2-3 octave handchimes and one for 3-5 octaves with optional 3-5 octave handchimes, both with optional percussion. Give the piece an African feel with djembes, caxixi, shekere, and gankoqui, or a Latin flavor with congas, bongos, maracas, and agogos. Techniques abound with mallets, mallet lifts, mallet rolls, martellato, martellato lifts, thumb damps, ring touches, and vibratos, making this a happy, joyful addition to the Christmas or general repertoire.
