Review:
This arrangement of the hymn tune MORECAMBE is an excellent addition to the handbell soloist’s repertoire. For the first verse, the flowing piano accompaniment supports the straightforward melody, which is played by the soloist. In the second verse, the pianist takes over the melody while the soloist plays a nice obbligato, using a variety of stopped techniques. The final verse features the melody back in the handbells but with a few rhythmic alterations in both the handbell part and the accompaniment that contribute to the grandioso style marking indicated by the arranger. Appropriate for any time of the church year, but especially for Trinity Sunday.
