Review:
A Short canonic introduction and ending frame three simple pentatonic settings of this old English folk melody. First a simple statement of the melody, then on to slowly shifting harmonies over a simple drone accompaniment, and thirdly a broadening with fuller voicing of the melody. A good choice for prelude or offertory any time of the year.
This quartet setting is meticulously scored with helpful instructions written into the music. Set on only two pages--repeats and cue notes have been utilized to avoid this page turn issue. 35 measures with repeats. Scored in eb minor.
