Review:
Clarion Call is a big, bold piece suitable for concerts, festivals, and worship services. The opening music sounds the “clarion call” with energetic, fanfare-like music. The middle section is propelled by a drum-like mallet accompaniment in the bass bells, while a variety of handbell articulations occur throughout the rest of the ensemble. This section provides a great opportunity for teaching and practicing mallets, thumb damps, marts and mart-lifts. The opening music returns to bring this composition to a rousing conclusion.
