Review:
The hymn tune, known as THAXTED, was composed by the British composer Gustav Holst in his orchestral suite titled The Planets. In recent years it has been paired with Michael Perry's text, "O God Beyond All Praising," and has regularly been included in a variety of denominational hymnals. Lloyd Larson's festive arrangement maintains the inherent regal nature of the tune while providing fresh harmonic color and interpretation to this memorable melody. It is scored in the keys of C Major and A Major and is 98 measures.
