Review:
A challenging arrangement that captures the excitement of the original exhilarating Morton Gould composition. "American Salute" was originally an orchestral composition written to be broadcast over military radio stations. It is a set of variations on "When Johnny Come Marching Home" and is meant to evoke military sounds including machine-gun fanfares, Morse code and a taps-like motif. The optional Snare Drum definitely adds a stirring flair. This work is 170 measures.
