Getting the expressiveness and rubato tempo correct are the main challenges in this beautiful character piece by American composer Edward MacDowell. Character marks include "in dreamy, swaying rhythm" and "questioningly." The rhythms are not too hard, but there are also a scattering of accidentals to be aware of. "To a Water Lily" is 55 measures and is scored in G Major.
