Review:
Jean Anne Shafferman has created this gorgeous anthem, adapted from a popular traditional canon by the 19th-century Father of American Church and School Music, Lowell Mason. Conceived as a flexible benediction for two- or three-part mixed or treble voices, it includes an optional congregational benediction and artful handbells or handchimes. The straightforward writing is superb and accessible and carries the universal message of peace. The bell/chime part is available on Lorenz's website, www.lorenz.com, for free. This 96-measure octavo is set in G Major.
