In the program notes for this original composition, the composer gives the inspiration for this work as coming from Philippians 4:7 "The peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus." In essence, the entire piece is a song without words reflecting on this verse. Flowing passages laced with alternate harmonies support the confident melody. The piece ends quietly in measure 65.
