Review:
The dictionary defines "kaleidoscope" as "a constantly changing group of bright or interesting objects." This certainly holds musically true for this extended medley of "changing" carols along with the "bright and interesting" combination of instruments, choirs, and audience participation! This work is around 21 minutes long, making it an excellent finale concert selection. This piece is for 4-5 octaves of bells and 3 octaves of chimes. However, this work is not playable by handbells alone. Carols include "First Noel, O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, Joy to the World, What Child is This, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Lo a Rose Eer Blooming, and Angels We Have Heard on High."
