Review:
The lovely Japanese folk song
"Sakura" is set here for bells, optional windchimes, finger cymbals and flute or recorder. The echo technique on half-note chords provides accompaniment to the opening treble melody in octaves. Later, legato eighth-note treble passages accompany a doubled melody in the lower octaves. This work is 32 measures with some repeats but no page turns. Please note that there is not a separate score for the optional instruments. The windchimes and finger cymbal play when notated; and the flute and recorder double the melody, the flute taking the upper treble line, the recorder taking the bottom treble line.
