Gentle Presence
This thoughtful, original melody for Bell Tree Solo (Med. Difficulty, 18 (19) bells: (D5) F5-C7) soars above a sensitively scored accompaniment for full ringing ensemble (L2+ 3-7 oct. chimes and/or bells). Based on an intriguing (and challenging) compositional concept, this "integrated" bell tree solo does not require an extra set of handbells for performance with an ensemble, as most bell tree solos might. "A Gentle Presence - BT" may be performed by a soloist AND full ensemble using only 3 octaves of bells and 3 octaves of chimes total - More details on performance options and ways to extend the ensemble’s range up to 7 octaves of chimes and/or bells are included in the score. Written as a loving tribute to Kath’s mother, Mary Lou, it is perfect for any quiet moment in worship or concert. This score was selected & premiered by Virginia Bronze for their Unpublished Music Concert, Fall 2022 (Brian Seeman, director). An audio clip of the premier performance will be available soon.
"A Gentle Presence" is also available in a compatible, fully-orchestrated, stand-alone concert/worship/festival score for 3-7 oct. L2+ handbell ensemble (RE8036).
For bell tree set-up instructions, Kath recommends checking Barbara Brocker's book, "A Bell Tree Keyboard Manual" (TO117).
