How Firm a Foundation
Written for the arranger's youth bell choir comprised of an All State Band Senior, several moderately skilled middle schoolers and a whole slew of brand new beginners! The repetition is varied by using several techniques that beginners don't usually get to play, but are made easy by the repetition (mallets, echo, marts and mart lifts). The more skilled ringers should be put on the melody, which may be played by chimes in some sections. An easy, easy piece that makes the ringers achieve a big sound rather quickly. (P.S. this review just happens to be written by the arranger, who is happy to report that this piece brought the age differences together as a team!)
