Carried on Cerulean Waters (I Will Be With You)
This lovely original was composed in memory of a personal friend of the composer. This beautifully emotive piece uses the metaphor of water, ever-flowing and ever-changing, to represent life’s unpredictable journey: serene, turbulent, joyful, restless, stormy. The three distinct melodic sections transport the listener through major and minor keys, complex chords, and tempo changes.
An optional flute part complements the piece by providing a beautiful countermelody throughout the piece. Added handchimes provide contrast, depth, and feeling. The final key change brings the piece back to the beginning melody in an uplifting reminder that our journey in life does not end, but continues in God's peaceful embrace. The flute part is printed above the handbell staves and at the end as a separate, reproducible part.
