Cherished Memories
This gorgeous music was commissioned in memory of Joanna Shepheard, a wonderful person and longtime supporter of the handbell community in Canada. This is simply a completely beautiful work.
It begins with a lyrical melody supported by lovely sonorous eighth note passages underlain by bass half notes, which then smoothly moves to accompaniment rung by LV handchimes with the option of bass half notes in the 2's. A clean, simple melody is featured in the treble as dynamic changes propel it all to several emotional peaks with Shakes and a beautiful segue to C-major. The mood then becomes more introspective interspersed with more expression, the addition of echoes, and well-placed malleted notes followed by another segue back to D-major. The final section is labeled 'resounding joy' and those words do not begin to describe the wonderful climax of this amazing piece.
This is definitely a 'must-have' title in your group's repertoire … and it can be used in worship, secular concerts, or massed ringing events!
