Thundersnow is an unusual kind of thunderstorm, with snow falling instead of rain. It typically occurs in regions of strong upward motion within the cold sector of an extra-tropical cyclone. This tone poem captures the feel of the gently falling snow becoming more intense and yes – even lightning and thunder - portrayed by creative, rhythmic malleting, mart-lifts and shakes. Dynamics play a large part in the excitement of this original work. The addition of optional sleigh bells tops it off! Begins in C major, modulates briefly to Dd Major, then returns to C Major - with many accidentals throughout! 82 measures.
The wonderful story behind this commission and its inspiration is included in the score. This is an exciting, fresh, creative work which will delight your ringers and audience!
