Amazing Grace
This beautiful solo arrangement with keyboard accompaniment was the demo piece for a set of handchimes given to George Washington Academy in Casablanca, Morocco. The handbell solo in this setting carries the melody at a rather slow pace in verse one and in the reprise. Verse one uses handbells in the 5 and 6 octave ranges in the key of D Flat; the reprise moves to the key of F, utilizing the lower register handbells. The two middle verses move the melody into the piano, with accompanying handbell patterns, first in repeating sixteenth notes and later in slow eighth and sixteenth note stepping patterns. Numerous instructions are given for the shifts in handbell placement. This is a nicely varied arrangement for both instruments.
