Travelers from Nazareth
Click For Larger Picture Review:     Sing a new Christmas carol this yuletide and accompany it with bells! This original hymn describing Mary and Joseph's trip to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus includes the congregational hymn and permission to copy it. The bells ring introduction and interludes but mostly provide accompaniment for the singing. The beginning text is: "The travelers from Nazareth set out for Bethlehem; a dusty road, a frosty breath lie on the way for them." The piece is one hundred and four measures and is scored in d minor.

Travel with the weary couple to Bethlehem in Tamara Raetz's plaintive text: "A dusty road, a frosty breath..." Your audience or congregation will be spellbound by this fresh insightful retelling of the well-loved scripture and prophecy. The full handbell score adds a mesmerizing accompaniment to a solo voice, SATB choir, or congregational singing using the bulletin insert. This is an excellent example of handbells being fully used in worship as well as of blending handbells and voices. Introduce it as an anthem the first Sunday of Advent, and then use it as your hymn of the month through December.
